Workday Functional Lead - Senior People Systems Specialist
Permanent, full time
Location: Ipswich, Queensland

Join a leading public sector entity currently undergoing a significant period of growth and digital transformation. The People and Culture team is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for the community through innovation, collaboration, and integrity. They foster a workplace culture that values diverse voices and empowers our people to act ethically and efficiently.

This is a high-visibility, Level 7 leadership position designed for an HRIS (Workday) expert who excels at the intersection of technical configuration and executive influence. You will act as a "Trusted Advisor" to senior stakeholders, moving beyond system maintenance to drive the HRIS roadmap and influence strategic workforce decisions. This role is not just about the "how" of system configuration, but the "why"—ensuring the technology aligns with long-term organisational objectives.

What You Will Do:

  • Lead the design and implementation of HRIS strategies, ensuring platforms meet evolving business needs and legislative requirements.
  • Manage high-level relationships with senior leaders and vendors, navigating complex integrations and driving consensus on system optimisations.
  • Act as the lead for major HRIS projects, including complex upgrades, releases, and module deployments for Workday and payroll systems.
  • Develop complex dashboards and predictive analytics to support workforce planning and executive decision-making.
  • Mentor and coach a team of HRIS partners and SMEs, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and knowledge sharing.

What You Need to Apply for This Role:

  • Extensive hands-on experience in Workday configuration (specifically Business Processes, Security, and Reporting) is essential.
  • Proven ability to influence executive leaders on system functionality and change management.
  • Skills in data analysis, predictive reporting, and identifying systemic trends to drive business outcomes.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex projects from inception to delivery, with prior supervisory experience.
  • Understanding of Australian payroll landscapes, legislative compliance, and audit readiness.
  • Negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear business value for non-technical audiences.
